Elliott Spencer Smith, Sr., 86, died Sunday, July 31, 2011 at 2:55 PM. He was a native of Lafayette, Louisiana and a resident of Houma, Louisiana. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Chauvin Funeral Home and on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 from 8:00 AM until service time at Chauvin Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Chauvin Funeral Home with burial in Terrebonne Memorial Park. He is survived by his Children, Elliott S. Smith, Jr. and wife Sandy of Lafayette, Wayne C. Smith and wife Shela of Houma, Keith B. Smith of Houma, Gary M. Smith and wife Debora of Houma, Linda S. Smith and husband Leighton of Kenner, Arlene S. Kelley and husband Vories of Plaquemine, Leah S. Owen and husband Richard “Dicky”of Houma, 14 Grandchildren, Dana Andrus of Kenner, Laura Clouate of St. Rose, Kelly Brewer of Houma, Shawn Smith of Houma, Eric Kelley of Plaquemine,and Christy McPhate of Baton Rouge, LA, Jason Scheffersten of Rockwell, TX, Erin Verret of Thibodaux, Richard Owen, III of Houma, Karen Owen of Houma, Gary Smith, Jr., of Thibodaux, Cody Smith Of Houma, and Candice Parsons of Houma; 5 Step-Grandchildren, Scott McDaniel of Nashville, TN and Virginia Summers of St. Louis, MO, Ronnie Kelly, Stephanie Landry and Melissa Porche and 16 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Wife, Shirley Mae Crochet, Parents, Nathaniel Smith and Leah Carline Smith, Brothers, Archie, Nathaniel, Evres, Adonis, Joe and Lineas Smith, Sisters, Frances Diamond and Addie Diamond Grandchildren: Jaiden Wolfe and Brandon Smith Elliott was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in World War II. and was a retired Production Operator for Texaco Oil, Inc. Elliott was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, and playing the harmonica and Scrabble. He was a renowned champion checker player. He was Baptist.
