Floyd Luke Duplantis Sr. 80 ½, a native and resident of Houma passed away peacefully Sunday, June 19, 2011 (Father’s Day) at 2:15 of cancer.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 9:00pm Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home with burial Wednesday at Holy Rosary Church in Houma. Viewing will be from 8:30am to mass at 11:00am.
He survived by his wife and sweetheart of 59 ½ years Martha Voisin Duplantis, four sons, Floyd Jr. and wife Judy of Breaux Bridge, Jude, Farrel (Kaboom) and wife Lisa, Spencer and wife Michelle, two daughters Viola Price, Edith and husband Samuel Lirette of Bourg.
Eleven grandchildren, Derek Price and father David Price of Raceland, Crystal and husband Andre Bernard of Carencro, Melissa and husband Jerrett Webre, Dustin Duplantis of Houma, Jacob and wife Haley of Bayou Blue, Michelle and Bradley Lewis of Plattenville, Katie Duplantis and Steven Duplantis of Houma, Elise and Noah of Houma, Brooke Duplantis of Houma.
He also survived by his two sisters, Leona Landry of Houma and Oudia and Harmon Dupre of Bourg, one brother Toby and Theresa Duplantis of Houma.
He proceeded in death by his parents Irving Sr. and Elise Picou Duplantis of Houma, one son Stacey and Sandy Duplantis of Houma, one grandson Samuel Timothy Lirette of Bourg, two brothers, Irvin Jr. and Allen Duplantis of Houma, two sisters Audrey Dupre Bergeron and Diane Scott of Houma.
Floyd was a devoted and loving father and friend who didn’t know the word no. He served in the Korean War. Floyd was a member of the Knights of Columbus, United Veterans, and Disabled American Venerations. He was a senior mechanic for Tidewater Marine. At Tidewater, he was honored with a vessel named the “Floyd Tide” for his years of service and dedication. His hobbies included: carving shrimp boats, playing cards, spending time with his family and many friends that he loved and adored.
