Marie Caillouet

d. June 6, 2011

Marie Philomene Henry Caillouet, age 99, a native of Houma, Louisiana, and resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, since 2006, died in her apartment at Rosewood Retirement Community at 8:57 PM on Monday, June 6, 2011, following a brief illness. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:15 AM, with interment following in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 1. She was preceded in death by Louis Philip Caillouet II, her husband of sixty-six years; by her parents Willis Parker Henry and Isia Marie Lajaunie; by her five sisters (and their husbands) – Florence Marie Henry LeBlanc (Charles Arthur LeBlanc), Gertrude Ann Henry, Julie Lenore Henry Toups (Aloysius Marx Toups), Anne Jeanne Henry, and Jeanne Anne Henry (Harold Osdell Cottrell); and by her three brothers and their wives – Lucas Lawrence Henry, Willis Leon Henry (Mae Magee Werkhaven Hoff), and George Manning Henry (Olive Margaret deBellevue). She is survived by a daughter, Mary Claire Caillouet Randazzo and her husband Joseph Anthony Randazzo Jr., of Lafayette, Louisiana; by a son, Louis Philip Caillouet III and his wife Jill Cecilia Rogers Caillouet of Broussard, Louisiana; by five grand-children – Richard Joseph Randazzo and his wife Thérèse Guenther Randazzo of Destrehan, Louisiana; Albert Joseph Randazzo of Destrehan, Louisiana; Jean Ellen Randazzo Campos and her husband Eric Edward Campos of Long Beach, California; Matthew Paul Caillouet and his wife Stephanie Kuhlmann Bullard Caillouet of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and by Kevin Adrian Caillouet and his wife Irene Sarantakos Caillouet of Richmond, Virginia; and also by six great-grand-children – Adrian Edward Campos, Amelia Claire Campos, Nathan Kyle Caillouet, Jacob Kale Caillouet, Lucas Webb Caillouet, and Ethan Augustin Caillouet. Mrs. Caillouet was a Registered Nurse, although long-retired from a primarily private-duty nursing career that started in 1932 when she completed training at Hôtel Dieu in New Orleans. She taught Red Cross home nursing classes during World War II. She and her late husband were among the organizers of the Houma-Terrebonne Carnival Club. She was active in the St. Francis de Sales Ladies’ Altar Society, the St. Francis Mothers’ Club, and Court Cardinal Gibbons of the Catholic Daughters of America. Her enduring work as a genealogist and family historian is a legacy that will be appreciated for many generations hence. Most of all, her personal faith and her dedication to God and to His Church will be remembered as exceptional. She served as a teacher of many through her catechetical work, both in Confraternity of Christian Doctrine classrooms at St. Francis de Sales and through private instruction. She was an exemplary role model for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and for the many others whose lives she touched. May God receive her as His good and faithful servant. Her family wishes to thank her many excellent care givers and dedicated sitters. In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred, or else donations in her memory may be made to St. Francis de Sales Cathedral or School.
