ELIZABETH “BEP” JOHANNA ZANDVLIET-DAMEN, native of her birthplace The Netherlands and resident of Houma passed away after a brief illness on June 6, 2011.
Visitation will be at Annunziata Catholic Church, Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. with the service to follow thereafter. Internment will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Gerard Damen, and five children, John Damen and wife Tineke , of Bourg; Randle Damen of Baton Rouge, Louise Damen-Frederick of Lafayette, Hanson Damen and wife Cathy of Oklahoma City, OK, Lisa Damen of Houma and daughter-in-law Julie Frederick-Damen. Twelve grandchildren: Robert Frederick, Katie Damen, Steven Damen, Lauren Frederick, Michelle Damen, Corey Damen, Megan Lanclos, Nicholas Damen, Christopher Damen, Nicole Damen, Sarah Damen and Jacob Damen and two great grandchildren, Alayna Frederick and Olivia Lanclos.
She is preceded in death by her son Robin Damen of Houma and daughter-in-law Denise Ledet-Damen of Baton Rouge, LA
She was a loving wife for 58 years. She was a loyal and loving mother, grandmother and friend.
She was a parishioner of Annunziata Catholic Church.
Elizabeth was born in Haarlem, Holland in 1929 and survived German occupation of The Netherlands during WWII. Elizabeth met Gerard in their native Holland and married in 1951 and soon after moved to America.
