Laura Mae Portier, 84, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 10:35 AM. She was a native of Chauvin, LA and resident of Saint Amant, LA. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. and Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 9:00 AM until service time at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial following at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery. She is survived by her son, Joey Michael Baudean and wife Kathleen, Saint Amant, LA, grandchildren, Tammy Morales, Dodie B. Matthews, Jessica B. Szomi, Ashley Baudean, Ariel Baudean, Hylas Baudean, great grandchildren, Chelsea Morales, Destinee Morales, Keely Morales, Lacey Bourque, Caitlin Matthews, Colby Matthews, Brenden Szomi, Brycen Szomi, Brentten Baudean, Tristan Baudean, Bre'annah Baudean and Destanee' Baudean and sister, Odile "Dee Dee" Pellerin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Portier and Mary Henry Portier, children, Kenneth Joseph Boudreaux and Sheila Baudean Fredrick, sisters, Azora Bergeron, Aldoris Portier, Anna Carrere, brothers, Johnny Portier, Harold Portier, Jimmy Portier She worked for the Continental Can Company and the Jefferson Parish School Board. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to thank the staff, nurses and doctors at Amedysis Hospice and Ascension Oaks Nursing Home.
