David Lee Pitre, 57, a native and resident of Houma, died at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011, after a long battle to Cystic Fibrosis.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Chauvin Funeral Home. A liturgy of the word will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with burial in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Vanessa LeBouef Pitre; his father, Ray J. Pitre Sr.; four brothers, Philip Pitre, Ray and wife, Charlotte Pitre Jr., Stephen "Stevie" and wife, Wanda Pitre, and Jerry and wife, Gwen Pitre; four sisters, Mrs. Mark (Debbie) Daigle, Mrs. Ray (Robbie) Belanger, Mrs. Roland "Flash" (Lisa) Smith, and Mrs. Timothy (Dody) Brown of Omaha, Neb.; his in-laws, Robert "Bob" LeBouef Jr., Gerald and wife, Michele LeBouef, Mrs. Don (Linda) Dill, and Mrs. Mike (Brenda) Redmond; two godchildren, Danielle "Dee" Pitre and Sarah Michele LeBouef; and the favorite uncle of a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorina Ledet Pitre; his paternal grandparents, James and Josephine Leonard Pitre; his maternal grandparents, Norris Joseph Ledet, Agnes Thibodeaux Ledet, and Antonia "Annie" Bourgeois Ledet; and one brother, Leonard "Lenny" Pitre.
David was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He never let his illness stop him from living life to the fullest. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
