Thomas Michael Backus Myers, 69, died at 2:30 a.m. on May 1, 2011. He was a native of Harlingen, Texas, and a resident of Houma, Louisiana.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Newman Myers, two daughters, Sarah Myers Breaux and her husband, Andy Breaux, of LaPlace, Louisiana, and Christy Myers LeBlanc and her husband, Keith LeBlanc, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is also survived by his two beloved grandchildren, Leigh Evalyn LeBlanc and Michael Gustave (Gus) LeBlanc, two sisters, Melissa Myers and Ann Myers Dartez, and a brother, Richard Myers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lou Evalyn Brindley Backus Myers and Thomas Hawkins Backus, and his stepfather, Robert Vincent Myers.
Mike loved being on the water in every aspect – fishing, sailing, boating and hanging out on the beach. He loved being with friends; he loved a party and he loved music.
He worked for LCR Corporation for 31 years and retired as manager of he Houma branch in 2005.
According to his wishes, a private ceremony with his family will be held at a later date.
