Joel Paul Bergeron, 72, died Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 3:00 AM. He was a native and resident of Houma, Louisiana. Visitation will be held on Monday May 2, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Chauvin Funeral Home and on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 9:00 AM until service time at Saint Francis de Sales Cathedral. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday May, 3, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Saint Francis de Sales Cathedral with burial following at Saint Francis de Sales Cemetery #2. He is survived by his brothers, David Joseph Bergeron, Carol and wife Carol Bergeron and Reverend Father C. Paul Bergeron, aunt, Violet Smith, nieces and nephews, Travis and wife Amy Bergeron, Tammy and husband Scott Price, Jason and wife Richelle Bergeron, Trever and wife Janet Bergeron, Jill and husband Ronn Parfait and Scott Bergeron, great nieces and nephews, Tandi Price, Scott David Price, Jr., Layla Bergeron, Jason Paul Bergeron, Jr., Jenna Bergeron, Bryson Bergeron, Makayla Bergeron, Anthony Bergeron, Kaylee Parfait, Koby Parfait and Kollin Parfait. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Paul Bergeron, mother, Leola Marie Lirette Bergeron and sister in law, Hedy Patricia Bergeron. Joel was a member of the Adrienne J. Caillouet Assembly Knights of Columbus as a 4th degree knight; he was also a member of the Italian American Society. Joel helped raise his brothers while growing up; he was a loving uncle and brother. He graduated from Saint Francis de Sales High School in 1958 and worked for the Bank of Terrebonne for over thirty years. He was currently the Sexton at Saint Francis de Sales Cathedral, a job he held for over ten years. He was a parishioner of Saint Francis de Sales Cathedral and was truly devoted to God.
