Philip Asevedo, Jr., passed away at his home in Houma, La. on Monday, April 18, 2011 at age 87. He was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish prior to Katrina and a World War II veteran who served honorably in the 58th Fighter Control Squadron. He is survived by his devoted and caring wife of 52 years, Patricia “Dodie” Bernard Asevedo; two daughters, Amy Asevedo Vorenkamp, husband Peter Vorenkamp of Cary, North Carolina, Margaret Asevedo Walker, husband Mark Walker of Houma, Louisiana; four grandchildren, Jason Vorenkamp, Amanda Vorenkamp, Jordan Walker and Kristen Walker; two brothers, Harold “Dutch” Asevedo and Jerry Asevedo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip Asevedo, Sr. and Annie Griner Asevedo; two brothers, Charles Asevedo and Marcel Asevedo and one sister Elvera Nicholson. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass on Saturday, April 30, at Maria Immacolata Church, 246 Corporate Drive, Houma, La. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the staff at Houma Family Practice Clinic, Terrebonne Homecare and Haydel Memorial Hospice.
