Nelson Paul Trahan, 81, died Monday, April 11, 2011 at 6:36 AM. He was a native and resident of Bayou Black, LA.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. and Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 9:00 AM until service time at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with burial following at Bayou Black Cemetery.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce Arceneaux Trahan
two sons, Gary John Trahan and wife Janell, Terry James Trahan and wife Jodiee,
two daughters, Brenda Ann Trahan James and husand Larry, Kathy Elizabeth Trahan Hebert and husband Jason,
nine grandchildren, Michelle Gautreaux, Guy Gautreaux, Wendy Trahan, Missy Trahan, Brandon Trahan, Terry J. Trahan, Jr., Bryan Hebert, Brad Hebert, Brittany Hebert,
seven great grandchildren and one sister Julia Currie of Metairie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Trahan, Sr. and Cecile Bergeron Trahan,
one brother, Leon Trahan, Jr. and
one grandchild, Jeremy James Trahan.
He was the founder and original owner of Trahan's Heating and Air. He founded the company in 1963. His love for the community of Saint Anthony inspired him to restore the church's rectory, the church and build a community center for which he was the building chairman. He was St. Anthony's Parish Council President in the early 70's. He was also an active member of St. Anthony's Usher Society. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children and grandchildren.
