Amy Tulette Bilbray Carrier, 96, a native of Alexandria and a long-time resident of Houma, passed away peacefully Monday, March 21, 2011.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at the Terrebonne Memorial Park.
She is survived by one son, William “Bill” Carrier and wife, Dolly, of Houma; one daughter, Bobbie C. Aucoin and husband, Roger, of Bogalusa; four grandchildren, Anthony “Tony” Aucoin and wife, Peggy, of Houma, Renee’ Reynier of Pontchatoula, Carolyn Harris and Leigh Carrier of Houma; one stepgrandson, Bradley Ledet; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Matthew Carrier; her parents, Nathan and Irene Bilbray; two brothers, Elmer Edwin Bilbray and Robert Fredrick Bilbray; one grandson, William Carrier II; and one great-grandson, Kenneth Harris Jr.
For more than 50 years she was a teacher in Terrebonne Parish, first at Bourg Elementary School and then Mulberry Elementary. She was a volunteer at Terrebonne Medical Center and also a volunteer at the Southdown Plantation Museum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mulberry Baptist Church, 2025 Bayou Black Drive, Houma, LA 70360.
