Maria Ethel Melancon, 96, a native of Oil City, LA and a resident of Houma, LA died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 5:00 PM. Visitation will be Friday, March 4, 2011 from 9:30am to service time at Maria Immaculata Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 4, 2011 at 1:00pm at Maria Immaculata Catholic Church with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2. Survived by: Sons: John Edward Melancon and wife Lisa Collins Melancon of Lafayette LA; Daughters: Alice Melancon Soudelier and husband Kent A. Soudelier of Montgomery TX; Linda Melancon Songy of Houma LA; and Ellen Melancon Dillard of Houma LA; Sisters: Betty Welch Clark and husband Richard Clark of Grand Prairie TX; Daughter-N-Law: Ina Behrins Landkamer and husband Rob Landkamer of South Port NC; Grandchildren: Kent Soudelier Jr and companion Barbara Coe; Michelle Soudelier Ell and husband Randall El; Craig Soudelier and wife Kristen Soudelier; Lynn Soudelier Pappas husband Scott Pappas; Stephanie Songy White and husband Jody White; Lee Dennis Dillard; Julie' Dillard Nolfo and husband Jacob Nolfo; John E. She was a parishioner of Maria Immaculata Catholic Church She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was a Gold Star Mother. She was a member of the Altar Society of Saint Gregory Catholic Church. She was an active YMCA member. She was a Presidents Club member of Avon Product Inc. cosmetics. She received over twenty Albee awards. The most loving mother in the world. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She was considered by Father Mike Bergeron as his spiritual mother.
