Harris "Man" Joseph Martin, 91, a native of Chauvin and resident of Houma, died at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2007.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to funeral time Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by one daughter, Karel Roddy and husband, Remy, of Houma; two brothers, Thaddeus Martin of Houma and Percy Martin of Montegut; one sister, Beulah Griffin of Chauvin; two grandchildren, Paula Smith and husband, John, of Houma, and Leah Hornsby and husband, John, of Prairieville; and five great-grandchildren, Victoria and Maria Smith, Hannah, Madelina and Luke Hornsby.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maybelle Price Martin; his parents, Eddie Martin and Julia Lapeyrouse Martin; three brothers, Julius Martin, Lucius Martin and Alvin Martin; and two sisters, Sylvia Authement and Pearl Boudreaux.
He was a boat owner and captain and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Council on Aging of Chauvin for 25 years and a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
