Bernice Crochet Henry, 97, a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident of Houma, passed away peacefully at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 11 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial following in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth C. Henry and wife, Peggy, of Houma, and Camile C. Henry and wife, Joyce, of Marshal, Texas; six grandchildren, Mark E. Henry and wife, Bette, of Lafayette, David A. Henry and wife, Dawn, of Houma, Patricia H. Wojahn and husband, David, of Centennial, Colo., Mary “Liz” Matherne and husband, Ronnie, of Clinton, Sharon Henry of Houma, and Michael Henry and wife, Tanya., of Marshal, Texas; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Camille C. Henry; her parents, Joseph V. Crochet and Clothilde Junie Crochet; two sisters, Orelia C. Hebert and Rosadell C. Larter; and two brothers, Howard J. Crochet and Curll J. Crochet. Mrs. Henry was a long time employee of Barbara’s Youth Shop of Houma, a volunteer at Terrebonne General Medical Center and Southdown Museum, a member of the Catholic Daughters and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, and a longtime parishioner of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and employees of Heritage Manor Nursing Home and to Lois Arnold and other employees of St. Catherine’s Hospice.
