Richard Joseph “Dick” Lampton, Sr., 88, a native of New Orleans and resident of Houma, died on January 26, 2011.
Dick was a Jesuit graduate who proudly served his country as a US Navy pilot in World War II and worked as a head pilot for Texaco. He enjoyed retirement by playing golf and building radio controlled model aircrafts and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his wife, Deanne, one sister, Patricia Lampton of New Orleans, one brother Albert Lampton of Birmingham, AL, two sons, Richard J. Lampton, Jr. and wife Karen, of Abita Springs, LA, Dale J. Lampton of Denham Springs, LA, two step sons, Dr. Maurice “Reese” Benoit and wife Denise of Pensacola, FL, Barry Benoit and wife Vickie of Houma and one step daughter, Deanne Benoit-Webb of Houma, three grandchildren Bonnie Jean Lampton, Margaret Lampton Kimble and husband Damien and Douglas Lampton, four great grandchildren, D.J. Lejeune, Samantha Schmidt, Luke Kimble and Dylan Gridinich, six step grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Webb, Dylan, Blake and Hannah Benoit and Justin Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Young Lampton and his parents Loraine and Delia Derbes Lampton.
He was a parishioner of St. Anthony Church.
Visitation will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Houma on Saturday January 29, 2011 from 8:00 AM until service time. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday January 29, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Saint Anthony Catholic Church with burial following at Saint Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.
