Charles Edward Neil, 63, a native of Las Animas, Colo. and a resident of Chauvin, died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011. Click to enlarge Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Ramona Smith Neil of Chauvin; one son, Ryan Neil and wife, Kelli of The Woodlands, Texas; one daughter, Leslie Neil Doiron of Chauvin; five grandchildren, Destinee Blanchard, Bailey Doiron, Alyssa Neil, Charlotte Neil and Kade Doiron; three brothers, Johnny Neil, Patrick Neil and Timmy Neil; four sisters, Linda Roybal, Elsie Neil, Patty Churchill and Theresa Neil; one godchild, Brent “B.J.” Neil Jr.; his father and mother-in-law, Normand “T-Man” Smith Sr. and Melva Pitre Smith; his brother and sisters-in-law, Sheila Thibodeaux and husband, Lloyd, Jeannie Neil and husband, Brent Neil Sr., Denise DeHart and husband, Reginald Sr., Patrick Smith and wife, Bernadine, and Normand Smith Jr. and wife, Kelly; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Neil and Mary Lopez Neil; three brothers, Leroy Neil, Larry Neil and Alvin Neil; and one sister, Betty Neil. He retired from Inco as a Barge Operator and was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, Chauvin Lion’s Club, The Sons of the American Legion, Ward 7 and Knights of Columbus. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed being with his family at the Senior Citizens of Chauvin. He also enjoyed being with his camping family. He was also loved and will be sadly missed by all. The family would like to thank Dr. Abou Issa and staff and all the Nursing Staff at TGMC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
