Morris Reynold Boquet, 86, a native of Bourg and resident of Houma, was called home to heaven at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8:30 a.m. to service time.
Mass will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the church, followed by burial in Bisland Cemetery.
He is survived by one sister, Jeanette Boquet Deroche and one brother, Horace “Hawkey” Boquet; four sons, Jules Boquet and wife, Deborah, Willard Boquet and wife, Roberta, Chris Olivier and wife, Debra, and Anthony “Tony” Boquet and wife, Toni Ann; four daughters, Elaine Olivier Gibson and husband, Lee, Harriet Olivier Lyons and husband, C.J., Mona Boquet Escobar and husband, Julio “Tito” Escobar and Melanie Boquet Marcel and husband, Matt; 19 grandchildren, Jules Boquet Jr. and wife, Jodie, Julie Boquet, Ryan Boquet, Michael Boquet, Michelle Boquet Saucier and husband, James, Chris Olivier Jr., Kayla Olivier Pitre and husband, Josh, Lori Olivier, Kristi Olivier, Tiffany Boquet Maye and husband, Mike, Thomas Boquet, Shane Gibson, Aaron Gibson and wife, Amanda, Tiny Lyons David and husband, Ryan, Amanda Lyons Hendren and husband, John, Julio Escobar, Wyatt Marcel and Audrey Marcel; 12 great-grandchildren, Hannah Boquet, Sarah Boquet, Ryan Glen Boquet, Tyler Olivier, Ethan Pitre, Emily Pitre, Trinity Olivier, Andre Trosclair, Ashton Olivier, Madison Maye, Blake Maye and Sylvie David; “adopted” son and daughter, Jim and Lynn Bivens; “adopted” grandaughters Tammy Bivens Carlos and husband, Carl, and Jaimie Bivens Robinson and husband, Jonathan; “adopted” great-granddaughters Carley Carlos, Taylor and Bailey Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jules Boquet and Antilliope Blanchard Boquet; his wife, Josephine Bourg Boquet; brothers Ferdinand “Frenchie” Boquet, Wills “LuLu” Boquet, Howard Joseph Boquet, Cyril Boquet and Alcee Paul “Nick” Boquet; sisters Lela “Tea” Boquet Aucoin, Dulce Boquet Olivier, Lena “Toon” Boquet Chauvin, Louise Boquet Arceneaux and Clara Boquet; two grandchildren Angela Escobar and Connor Marcel; and one great-grandson, George Boquet.
Morris was retired from Texaco-Chevron and was a former constable of Bourg. He was a loving husband and dad and devout Catholic who served as usher at St. Ann’s Catholic Church for many years and loved saying the Rosary.
