Louella Rogers

Louella “Lou” Rita Stringer Rogers, born in Chauvin on March 3, 1924, died in Houma Monday morning, Dec. 27, 2010. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church in Houma. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with celebrant Rev. Peter Rogers Sr., the nephew of Mrs. Rogers’ late husband. She is survived by her loving son, Marc Jonathon Rogers of Gibson and wife, Lydia Foucheux Rogers; three loving daughters, Jill Rogers Caillouet of Broussard and husband, L. Philip Caillouet III, Stephanie Rogers Fike of Baton Rouge and husband, C. Edwin Fike and Sally Rogers Todd Sobba of Lafayette and husband, Donald H. Sobba; eight grandchildren, Christopher Lee Rogers, Marc Jonathon Rogers Jr., Matthew Paul Caillouet, Kevin Adrian Caillouet, Haley Helen Fike, Erin Elizabeth Todd, Amanda Leigh Todd and Spencer George Todd IV; five great-grandchildren, Adrianne Ruth Rogers, Nathan Kyle Caillouet, Jacob Kale Caillouet, Lucas Webb Caillouet and Ethan Augustin Caillouet; three brothers, Gervais Stringer of Winter Haven, Fla., Hubert Frank “Snow” Stringer Jr. of Houma and Steven Stringer of Bourg; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the fifth of nine children. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis Dallas Rogers; her parents, Hubert Frank Stringer and Ernestine Elodie Babin Stringer; two brothers, Joseph Warren Stringer and Willard John “Pete” Stringer; three sisters, Lottie Stringer Gaston, Kate Stringer Price and Gloria Stringer; and one son-in-law, Spencer George Todd III. During her senior year of nursing school, she volunteered for the United States Army Cadet Corps in Longview, Texas. She was a member of the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Terrebonne Parish Retired Teachers Association or Scholarship Fund, Care of Kenneth Royston, 1450 St. Charles Ave., Houma, LA 70360.
